High Power LED Driving Solutions - ZXLD1350 Slide 12

The ZXLD1350 requires a high-quality decoupling capacitor. Ceramic devices with an X7R dielectric are recommended. Y5V dielectric ceramic capacitors should not be used as the capacitance drops with increasing supply voltage and will not provide sufficient decoupling. 1 µF is suitable for most applications. The ADJ pin can be left un-connected, but in high noise electrical environments a 10 µF capacitor should be used. The ZXLD1350 works by switching the peak current off and on when the current is ±15% above the desired average level. If it is desirable to reduce the ripple voltage across the LEDs, a 1µF ceramic capacitor will reduce the ripple by a factor of 3. Note that adding capacitance across the diodes does increase start up time.
