IPDiA silicon capacitors are developed with the most suitable technology for the each of the related applications and industries. Different in-house technologies are available, as a function of capacitance density versus breakdown voltage. The highest available density in production is 250nF/mm2 with a breakdown voltage of 11VDC. The next generation of 500nF/mm2 has just passed a crucial mile-stone as it is currently approved in the laboratory. Operating or maximum applied voltage is a function of rated breakdown voltage, specified lifetime and working temperature. For example, at an operating voltage of 3.6VDC and under, at 37°C, with an 11VDC breakdown voltage device such as a 3.3µF in 1812 package, the expected lifetime is more than fifty years. In some of high temperature designs silicon capacitors offer more than twenty seven years of the lifetime at 225°C and 5.5VDC. The highest operating voltage devices available are 25VDC-50VDC.
