Analog Devices offers their MAX22505 high-speed USB port protector. The MAX22505 provides protection to a USB port against connections to typical 24-volt DC or 24-volt AC systems with a maximum data line protection of plus or minus 40.7 volts and power and ground line protection up to plus or minus 50 volts. This IC is housed in a 24-pin, 4 millimeter by 4 millimeter TQFN package, with exposed pad, and is specified for operation from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 105 degrees Celsius. This port protector is designed to protect a USB port on commercial and industrial equipment against damage due to faulty or incorrectly wired power supplies. Ideal applications include diagnostic USB ports, industrial PCs, and programmable logic controllers.
