The LT3022 is the 8th VLDO in Linear’s portfolio (LTC1844, LT3020, LT3021, LTC3025, LTC3025-x, LTC3026, LTC3035). A VLDO regulator may be defined in two ways: first, it has a typical 25°C dropout voltage of <200mV, and second, a low ranging input voltage, typically sub-1V minimum. As a 1A device, the LT3022 slots nicely between the 500mA LT3021 and the 1.5A LTC3026 VLDOs. The closest non-VLDO product comparison in the portfolio is the LT3080, which requires 2 supplies (NPN architecture) to achieve <350mV dropout operation. The LT3022 offers a better protection feature set yet has higher quiescent current & output voltage noise.
