Advanced Thermal Solutions - maxiGRIP

The maxiGRIP™ clip attachment system by Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc. (ATS) offers a convenient and sure-fire method of attaching heatsinks for high powered electronics. It has many advantages over conventional attachment systems: (1) Its frame geometry has been optimized for strength and minimal space requirements. (2) The tapered wall provides clearance for adjacent components. (3) Its hour glass shape provides positive contact with the component and additional room for a metal spring clip. (4) The uniformity in design allows for an omni-directional frame clip orientation. (5) The low profile of the frame clip and minimal cross-sectional area of the spring clip allow for maximum airflow through the heat sink. (6) Use of the frame clip and spring clip permit the utilization of phase change material, which can significantly reduce the case temperature. The clip on the maxiGRIP is manufactured from a high performance plastic with exceptional thermal stability. This differentiates it from typical plastic attachments, which can add combustible material to a circuit board. To demonstrate that this ATS frame clip has a naturally flame retardant material, rated as UL94-V0; we applied a very high temperature flame to the clip. As the video shows, the plastic does not burn easily and extinguishes itself immediately once the flame is removed.
