700th Click board™ Milestone

Mikroelektronika's first Click board, the EasyGPS - mikroBUS™, was released in 2011 with the first two pieces being sold in Denmark and Russia. Since then, the Click board portfolio has expanded exponentially. Click boards were created to significantly shorten development time and make the lives of engineers easier by eliminating unnecessary steps. The key differentiating feature for Click boards is to take as few pins as possible and cover the highest number of peripherals. Access to pins is easy since Click boards come with headers already soldered.

The Smart Buck click is a two-channel step-down DC/DC converter and regulator with additional functions. It can provide voltage measurement at each of its two programmable voltage outputs, as well as the measurement of current consumption. Additionally, it can provide power consumption measurements of the Click board itself, both at the mikroBUS +5 V power rail and the external voltage input terminal. It also features 2 kbit of EEPROM that can be used for logging the measurements, storage of the working parameters, or general purpose data.

Using external modules and sensors has never been easier. With a portfolio of 500 Click boards, it is highly unlikely that engineers will have difficulty finding the right one for their project, but if they do, it can be expected in the future since MikroElektronika is continually adding boards. Because mikroBUS is an open standard, third-party developers are incorporating sockets into their designs, adding Click board connectivity. Some of the vendors are Microchip, NXP, ST, Avnet, Infineon, Cypress, and many others. There are also shields for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and others.
