This series is ideal for on-board chargers for electric vehicles (EV), or hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), and the charging or discharging of the DC link capacitors in these types of vehicles.

The EPCOS PTC-ICL components are designed for high inrush currents in electrical equipment such as drive systems, inverters, or power supplies due to the fact that excessive inrush currents can damage sensitive components. The PTC inrush current limiters are able to offer more reliable protection especially at demanding temperatures and power conditions and provide protection in the case of short circuits.
