Current limit switches are designed to respond to overcurrent conditions in one of three ways. Depending on the type of switch (referred to as current limit mode) the circuitry may latch off, periodically turn on to see if the overcurrent is still present, or use a low current to continually monitor the output and see when the over current condition goes away. Auto-Retry mode is shown in the diagram on the left hand side.
