Applications

Ethernet has been available in the office environment long before industrial Ethernet equipment existed. The equipment is well known for its performance, reliability and low cost. Quite often, when companies evaluate the technology, they do not examine how an industrial Ethernet switch can reduce overall operation costs, such as warranty repairs or truck rolls to replace failed equipment. Typical industrial applications can include outdoor camera security systems used in a solar plant, adding a vision system to factory automation systems or adding vibration sensors to a compressor or motor to provide predictive health of complex equipment.
