Renesas' RA2A2 group is based on the Arm Cortex-M23 core and provides peripheral features for a wide range of applications. With the capabilities of a high-resolution ADC, continuous firmware updates, a segment LCD, and low-power operation, users can simplify system designs, reducing system cost and the overall footprint.
The entry-line, single-chip 32-bit Arm MCU advances the RA family’s rich analog portfolio with rich peripheral features, delivering a better design experience that allows a high level of analog sensing while reducing power consumption. The 24-bit ADC realizes low power and high-resolution AD conversion for power consumption-sensitive applications. The dual bank code Flash and bank swap function make it easy to implement FOTA for continuous operation. The multiple power structure and voltage detection hardware realize an energy-efficient and ultra-low-power operation.
The RA2A2 targets energy management and general-purpose applications by supporting a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC, dual bank code Flash, a segment LCD, and an independent power supply RTC. The RA2A2 meets the requirements for a prime target application being next-generation smart electricity meters, supporting functions including 8 KHz/4 KHz hybrid sampling for non-instructive load monitoring (NILM), firmware updates without interrupting metrology, power management by the multiple power structure, voltage detection hardware, and an independent power supply RTC, and a hardware accelerator with AES 128-bit/256-bit ECB/CBC/CTR/GCM/CMAC/CCM-modes.
The RA2A2 is also suitable for general-purpose applications that require continuous firmware updates and a segment LCD with low-power operation. The package option supports 64-pin to 100-pin LFQFP packages.
